The Clarkstown police dog Oz added another achievement to his young law enforcement career.
The 19-month-old German shepherd and Clarkstown Police Officer Joseph Knarich won a certification tracking trial last week involving participating police dogs from New York, New Jersey and Connecticut.
Oz won the novice trial, scoring 175 out of 180 possible points tracking a suspect’s scent through three field trials.
Because his score was the highest among all groups, Oz won first place overall in the competition.
Oz and Knarich participated in Thursday’s United States Police Canine Association Region 7 Police Dog-2 trials on Staten Island. The event was hosted by the New York Police Department.
